Dear Friends,
I welcome you to the anniversary celebration of the 1520 Strategic Partnership Business Forum in Sochi.
This event has great importance for Russian railway officials. In fact, it is the main event in the railway industry and one of the largest business meetings of representatives from the professional community working on the Eurasian space. The highlight of your annual forums is traditionally a discussion of joint projects for the further development of railway transportation, the construction of modern infrastructure as well as the harmonisation of the national legislative framework of the countries united by the common broad-gauge standard.
The Russian government devotes serious attention to these crucial tasks and even in these challenging times finds additional ways to modernise the transportation sector and the entire railway network, which plays a strategic role in the life of our enormous country. Today we need to search more actively for new sources of growth and make unconventional decisions that will facilitate the introduction of advanced technologies, the attraction of private capital and, of course, improvements in the quality of passenger service and the safety of all types of transportation.
I hope that the Tenth International Business Forum will start a new chapter in the mutually beneficial cooperation of our countries and serve to strengthen partnerships and good neighbourly relations.
