Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint-Stock Company was founded on June 20, 2009 as a successor of the Azerbaijan State Railways. Research and Production Corporation “Uralvagonzavod” (UVZ) is one of the Russian largest machine-building clusters. As of today, UVZ incorporates more than 40 enterprises, R&D establishments, design offices in Russia and abroad.

UVZ is an established authority in freight railway vehicle manufacture for the 1520 area. Every third railway car on the Russian railways is made under the UVZ brand. Altogether there is more than million railway vehicles have come off the UVZ production line among which several tens of railway car and tank car varieties including innovative models.     

Focusing on innovation is the key approach to development of new products. Hopper car for mineral fertilizers with a full composite body is an excellent example of it. UVZ has won the most prestigious international JEC award for this development.

Since 2015, UVZ has been cooperating with CJSC Azerbaijan Railways in supply of various types of freight cars: multipurpose gondola, box car, car to transport grain, car to transport cement, multipurpose flat car, tank car to transport oil and petroleum products, hopper car to transport cement, ballast hopper car. 

The corporation has concluded Partnership Agreement on direct supplies and joint ventures aimed at assembly of railway cars using UVZ car bodies and Iranian bogies for sale in Iran and neighboring countries.
