United Wagon Company

United Wagon Company incorporated in 2012 to manage Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant and RAIL1520, an operating lessor.

United Wagon Company’s aim is to develop an integrated provider of railway services, including the manufacturing, operating lease, engineering and maintenance of freight cars. Its strategic objective is to become a leader in the 1520 gauge region.   

Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant was launched in 2012. It produces a number of freight car types on the basis of a new generation design of Barber bogie. A widespread introduction of these freight cars will help to set a new industry standard for Russian railway transport. At its full capacity the Plant will produce around 13,000 new generation freight cars, 90,000 tonnes of railway castings and 65,000 wheel sets annually.

Operating lessor RAIL1520 was incorporated in 2011 and has become a fast growing operator in the market for long-term leasing of freight cars. The company’s fleet is currently 5,000 freight cars. RAIL1520’s objective is to expand its leasing operation to 60,000 railcars by 2016 and to become a leading player in the operating leasing market of rolling stock in Russia.

The combination of a freight car manufacturing plant and an operating lessor, to be later complemented with in-house maintenance and engineering operations, will create a significant synergy and will help United Wagon Company to provide its customers with integrated complex solutions for railway transportation.

General Construction Company


“RZDstroy” is one of the leading companies in the market of transport construction. It is among five largest Russian companies by sales of construction services.

“RZDstroy” is a federal-scale industrial construction company, which ensures fulfillment of contract works all over Russia – from Kaliningrad to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. It includes 20 construction and assembly trusts, located across the entire network of Russian railways.

Today the company is the contractor of a great number of projects, including those of high complexity. OJSC “TransCreditBank” (License #2142 from the Bank of Russia), established in November 1992, is a top-15 Russian bank by assets.

Freight Two

JSC Freight Two is a universal common network operator of cargo rolling stock.

The total amount of the freight car fleet which is under management of JSC Freight Two (including leasing), makes about 175,000 wagons.

Taking into account the volume of planned write-offs and purchases of freight cars in the period of 2012–2014 by JSC Freight Two, the general fleet of the Company freight cars will consist of more than 197,000 freight cars.


Freight One

Freight One is the largest private rail freight operator in Russia and across the whole 1520 gauge. In 2011 the total capacity of freight transportation by Freight One was 284 million tons. Freight One possesses over 190 000 units of rolling stock which constitutes 17% of Russian car fleet.

The structure of Freight One is made up of 14 sub-offices, which deliver services to customers across the whole railway network in Russia. In Ukraine and Finland the Company is represented by Freight One Ukraine and Freight One Scandinavia.

Late 2011 Freight One joined UCL Rail, which is the railway division of UCL Holding – an international transport group.
