Vladimir Yakunin, Russian Railways
On behalf of the Management Board of the JSC Russian Railways, it is my pleasure to welcome the participants in the Seventh International Rail Business Forum "Strategic Partnership 1520". The purpose of the Forum agenda is to work out the specific guidelines for the development of rail transport in the context of international trade expansion and intensified integration processes in the "1520 area".
Specifically, the forum will outline arrangements for further forming of the unified operating standards for railway transport within the Common Economic Space and the Commonwealth of Independent States and provide a glimpse of the future contours of the transportation market given Russia's accession to the World Trade Organisation.
The Forum will focus on practical interaction with the European Union which is crucial for the "1520 area". Our strategic dialogue with western partners will highlight modernisation of the railway infrastructure with a view to enhancing the competitive power of trans-European routes.
I am certain that the Seventh International Rail Business Forum "Strategic Partnership 1520" will serve as a platform for profound discussion of the agenda by all stakeholders on the railway transportation market in Eurasia.
I wish all of you new ideas, exciting discussions and fruitful work.
President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin
